Iowa City, IA- For the first time ever, a Starbucks in Iowa is attempting to unionize.
TV Station KCRG reports that employees at the coffee shop in Iowa City decided to unionize after reaching a “breaking point” with management. Some workers said they objected to moves to cut hours for some employees, as well as other issues.
The workers reached out to the “Starbucks Workers United” group back in January, and filed paperwork with the National Labor Relations Board to become a union on Monday.
The worker still need to formally vote to unionize.
