
Burlington, IA- The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents of a new phone scam.
According to an online post, area residents told the sheriff’s office that they are being contacted by a person stating they are Lieutenant Brimshaw, claiming to be with a federal agency, and the person receiving the call has had an arrest warrant issued for failure to appear.
The individual requests payment over the phone.
The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office advises residents not to give personal or financial information if you receive such a call, as they do not ask for or collect payment over the phone.
Anyone who has been a victim of this scam is advised to report it to local law enforcement.
