Hazel Fox, age 96, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away Tuesday June 6, 2023 at Courtyard Estates in Monmouth. She was born August 26, 1926 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the daughter of Lee and Annette Melvin Hensley. On November 25, 1944, she married Wendell Fox in LaHarpe.
Survivors include her husband, three children: Donna Cargill of Morton, IL, two sons: Randy (Grace) Fox of Burlington, IA, Rod (Lori) Fox of Oquawka, IL, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
The funeral for Mrs. Fox will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Stronghurst Christian Church, with Steve Minkler officiating. Burial will follow in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Timothy James Heusel, 62, of New London, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice, West Burlington. He was born in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois on February 9, 1961. Logan Henry and Miriam Carleen Hackman Heusel adopted him in December of 1962 from the Lake Bluff Children’s Home, Chicago, Illinois, after having him as a foster child for over a year.
He was a 1979 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a member of The United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. On April 14, 1984 he married Julie Lynn Ganka in Arlington, Texas. She died December 6, 2010.
He worked as a truck driver for Aldi Foods, West Burlington, and at Ideal Concrete, Mt. Pleasant. Tim very much enjoyed riding his Harley, watching Nascar, attending races especially at Knoxville, and time visiting with all of his friends.
Tim is survived by his son Joshua (Charity) Heusel of Burlington; his beloved terrier Tug; and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, grandparents, and brother Eric Bryan.
The family will greet friends from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Elliott Chapel, New London. According to his wishes, his body has been cremated and a private family inurnment will be held at Burge Cemetery next to his beloved wife, Julie. Robert Luth, 85, of Burlington, died Monday, June 5, 2023, at the New London Nursing and Rehab in New London.
Born August 9, 1937, in Burlington, he was the son of Paul and Captola Viola Klaus Luth and his step-father, Lyle Anderson.
Robert liked working on radios, working at Hope Haven, watching TV, especially cowboy, rodeo and western movies and most importantly, General Hospital. He also loved watching people, he was always very social and was the official greeter at Friedenheim apartment complex. He was affectionately known as “Tex” by his friends at Hope Haven.
Survivors include his cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Lyle Anderson.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
A private graveside committal service for Mr. Luth will be held.

Lisa Jean Shackleford, 40, of West Burlington, died suddenly Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center. As a registered organ donor, she was able to help numerous people through her generous gift.
Born October 30, 1982 in Iowa City, she was the daughter of Dennis and Anne (Klein) Aney.
Lisa graduated from Burlington High School in 2001. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She married Jason Shackleford on September 3, 2005 in Burlington.
Lisa was a legal assistant at the Beckman Law Office for eight years. She was an avid reader and liked baking. She enjoyed going to the cabin on the river and hunting. She loved taking care of her family and her dog, Izzy.
Survivors include her husband Jason of West Burlington; two sons Jesse Shackleford and Kyle Wisbey both of West Burlington; her father Dennis Aney of Burlington; one sister Maria Aney of West Burlington; three brothers Adam (Heidi) Aney of Burlington, Daniel (Kellie) Aney of Burlington and Michael (Kirsten) Stastny of Poplar Grove, IL.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Anne Aney, uncles Bob Klein and Bill Klein, aunt Barb Siegler, maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents, cousin Mary Christine Platz and Jade Klein.
The funeral service for Lisa will be 2:30 pm Saturday, June 10th at Lunning Chapel with the Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, June 9, 2023 at Lunning Chapel.
Per Lisa’s wishes, cremation will be accorded after her services.

Linda Johnson, 76, of Burlington, died Saturday, June 3, 2023, at her home.
Born January 13, 1947, in Burlington, was the daughter of Dorsey Reuben and Lola Francis Unglesbee Heldt. On June 11, 1965, she married Walter Johnson and they later divorced in 1986.
Linda graduated from Burlington High School. She worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for over 30 years.
Linda enjoyed going to the casino, traveling, crafts and painting. She enjoyed bowling in many bowling leagues and was awarded for 25 years of state tournament play.
Survivors include her daughter, Amy Bielser of Burlington; son, David (Katie) Johnson of Mount Pleasant; two granddaughters; Nikita Bielser and Kayla Johnson, and four great-grandchildren; two sisters; Karen Killoren of Hamilton, IL and Nancy (Joe) Alrich of Washington.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Barbara Jean, Peggy and Judy.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Carole M. Klees, 91, of Burlington, died Friday, June 2, 2023, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born August 23, 1931, in Bonaparte IA, she was the daughter of Peter and Ludgardis (Striegel) Osweiler. On January 22, 1955, she married Mervin R. Klees in Farmington, IA. He passed away on April 28, 2015.
She was a 1949 graduate of Bonaparte High School and a 1952 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Burlington. She was a nurse for 40 years working at Mercy Hospital, IRC, BMC, and IAAP.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She belonged to St. Gerardi Circle, Burlington Federated Women’s Club, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Jane A. Delano Nurses Association, BMC Auxiliary, AARP, Friends of the Depot volunteer and NARVRE unit 167. Carole loved gardening, bird watching, watching any Iowa Hawkeye sports and dancing.
Survivors include her three sons, Michael Klees and Peter (Lisa) Klees both of Burlington, and Paul Klees (Michelle) of Stronghurst, IL; grandchildren, Phillip, Kyle (Jessica), Chad and Amanda Klees, and Machele Osborn Bey, and great-grandchildren, Khloe and Adam Lundquist, Kelse and Kaleb Klees, and Mikai Osborn Bey; one sister Patricia (Paul) McMican of Millersville, PA.; very dear friend Ruth Powers and foreign exchange student, Sebas Olivan of Barcelona, Spain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, five sisters and numerous dogs named Smokey.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 6:00 PM Rosary Service until 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 8, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Klees will be 10:30 AM Thursday, June 8, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. John’s Cafeteria following the burial.

Doris Dalrymple Landes, 87, of Burlington, died Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center.
Born September 23, 1935 in Fort Madison, Iowa, she was the daughter of Clarence and Sadie (Whittlesey) Dalrymple. On October 23, 1955 she married Donald Landes at the Sante Fe Methodist Church in Fort Madison. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2022.
Doris graduated from Fort Madison High School. She worked for NW Bell Telephone in Fort Madison for eight years and later worked on the family farm in Denmark, Iowa.
Doris was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Middletown and held several offices. She enjoyed planting flowers, reading, taking care of her grandchildren and loved to make family dinners. She enjoyed square dancing with the Merry Mixers.
Survivors include one daughter Brenda Wilkins of Danville, Iowa; two sons Russell Landes of Denmark, Iowa and Mark Landes of Brazil; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother Chester Dalrymple of Burlington, Iowa; one sister Joan (Rolland) Hancock of St. Louis, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, one sister Sue Magoon and two grandchildren Roy and Deanne .
Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
The memorial service for Doris will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 10th at Lunning Chapel with Jay Clover officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Inurnment will be held on a future date in Long Creek Cemetery.

John Joesph Gayewski, 87, of Burlington, died Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born May 31, 1935, in Pine Island, NY, he was the son of Bronislaw and Regina S. Sedlak Gayewski. John was the first member of his family to be born in the United States, after his parents immigrated from Poland. On May 25, 1957, he married Ruth Ann Miller in Orange County, NY. She died September 28, 2015.
John worked on his onion farm in Pine Island, NY, for many years. He then moved his family to Iowa and worked for Georgia Pacific.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. John enjoyed listening to Polkas, and was a friend with Polka King Jimmy Sturr. He loved being outdoors, either fishing or tending his hundreds of acres of onions. John was great at making Polska Kielbasa.
Survivors include one son, John (Denise) Gayewski, Jr. of Burlington; two daughters, Nancy Mutchler of West Burlington, and Diane (Keith) Ball of Oakville; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Hojnacki of Warwick, NY, and Regina Bastek of West Town, NY and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Barney, and eight sisters, Jean, Mary, Charlotte, Genevieve, Josie, Pauline, Mickie, and Stella.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Friday, June 9, 2023 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
