Body found after two southeast Iowa fires

Henry County, IA-  Authorities say that a body was found after emergency crews responded to a pair of fires in Southeast Iowa.

TV Station KTVO reports that the first fire was reported at about 8:30 PM Tuesday in the 2500 grid of Perkins Road near Lowell.  Emergency crews arrived to find a house and garage fully engulfed in flames.  No one was injured, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The second fire, in the 2300 grid of 220th Street north of Mount Pleasant, was reported at about 11:30 PM.

Fire crews arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames.  Firefighters discovered one person was unaccounted for as the fire was being extinguished.

A body was found inside the house once the fire was put out.

The identity of the person is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Both fires are under investigation by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
