Burlington Police: man arrested for shooting into a crowd

Burlington, IA-  The Burlington Police Department has announced the arrest of a man who fired a gun into a crowd.

According to a news release, just before 2 AM Sunday, July 23rd, officers were sent to Doc’s Tavern, 1622 Aetna Street, after gunshots were fired there.  Tavern patrons told officers that 33-year-old Tyler Underwood had been at the tavern and, upon leaving at closing time, fired shots into a crowd. Officers were told Underwood left the area on foot.

Officers located Underwood a few blocks away.  He was not in possession of a gun and was arrested for public intoxication.

A short time later, officers were told a man arrived at the hospital in Fort Madison with a gunshot wound to his shin saying it happened at Doc’s.

Underwood was then additionally charged with willful injury, possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated assault, reckless use of a firearm, and intimidation with a firearm.
