
Burlington, IA- A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday, August 2nd after hitting a dog on Highway 34.
The Hawk Eye reports that the accident occurred near Curran Street and Highway 34 at about 5:45 PM Wednesday.
The motorcyclist was going eastbound when the dog came out of the median. The motorcyclist attempted to avoid the dog, but they collided.
According to a crash report the motorcyclist, a 36-year-old South Dakota man, was wearing a helmet and safety gear, but his helmet did come off during the crash.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene and found the dog deceased on the highway.
The dog’s owner came to the scene to retrieve the deceased dog and was cited for allowing a dog to run at large. The motorcyclist was taken to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.
