Burlington, IA- A Burlington police officer has been placed on administrative leave following an arrest and investigation by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations.
35-year-old Tyler Elmore has been charged with domestic abuse assault and disorderly conduct.
The Hawk Eye reports that Burlington police officers were called to Elmore’s residence on August 7th for a domestic disturbance.
To avoid a conflict of interest, the case was referred to the Iowa DCI and the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office as the Burlington Police Department conducted its own internal investigation.
Elmore was placed on administrative leave on August 18th. The DCI later submitted its findings to the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Elmore’s arrest.
Elmore was arrested on August 31th and was released the same day after posting a $1,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Friday, September 22nd.
