Wever, IA- Two contractors at OCI Nitrogen in Wever were injured Friday, September 15th, while conducting scheduled maintenance at the plant.
The Pen City Current reports that, as the contractors were performing the scheduled maintenance, the two were gassed, causing severe burns. LeeComm said that the burns were ammonia-related.
According to a statement from OCI released Friday, the contractors were taken to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center for treatment and one was subsequently airlifted to Iowa City.
