
Burlington, IA- The Chief of the Burlington Police Department Marc Denney has announced his resignation.
According to a news release, Denney announced his immediate resignation on Wednesday, October 4th. In a letter to Burlington city manager Chad Bird, Denney expressed gratitude to the citizens of Burlington for their hospitality and unwavering support, as well as their trust in local law enforcement.
Bird addressed members of the police department on Wednesday, and said he will be meeting with members of the department, the city council, and Burlington citizens to begin to review a succession plan for the future of the department and the city.
Bird noted that operations in the department will continue uninterrupted, and the search for a new police chief will begin immediately.
