Burlington man arrested for drug possession, failure to maintain control

Burlington, IA- The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a Burlington man on multiple charges.

According to a news release, at about 2:55 AM Monday, October 9th, Des Moines County Deputies observed a suspicious vehicle near DMC Highway 99 and Tama Rd. When Deputies arrived, the vehicle took off. Deputies recognized the driver to be 38 year old Travis Keever of Burlington.

A short time later, deputies observed the same vehicle strike the rock wall under the viaduct on Des Moines Ave. near Oak St. Deputies then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and it stopped at Oak St. and N. 9th St.

Deputies contacted the driver, who was identified as Keever.

Deputies observed a loaded hypodermic needle in plain view. Deputies then detained Keever and searched the vehicle. Deputies located drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and methamphetamine inside the vehicle.

Keever was placed under arrest for two counts possession of a controlled substance 3rd or subsequent offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to maintain control.
