Wapello County, IA- An Ottumwa man convicted of killing his wife was sentenced Monday, October 16th, to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
TV Station KTVO reports that Gregory Showalter Sr. of Ottumwa was found guilty in September of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, willful injury, and domestic abuse.
On September 23rd, Showalter failed to return to the courthouse after being notified that the jury had come to a verdict. He was found and arrested at his home the next day.
Showalter will appear in court again on Wednesday, October 18th for a charge of interference with official acts relating to this disappearance.
