Des Moines County Sheriff: Davenport man arrested on multiple drug charges

Burlington, IA-  The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a Davenport man for multiple counts of possession of a controlled substance.

According to a news release, on Tuesday, February 13th, Des Moines County Deputies stopped a vehicle at Agency Street and Roosevelt Avenue after observing the vehicle run through a stop sign and recognizing the driver to be unlicensed.

Deputies contacted the driver, identified as 51-year-old Jeremy Ronald Rourke of Davenport.

While speaking with Rourke, deputies observed a loaded hypodermic syringe sitting on Rourke’s lap, and he admitted to deputies that the syringe contained drugs.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found 23.5 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and 340 grams of methamphetamine.

Following the discovery of the drugs, the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force was contacted.

Further investigation led detectives to the Howard Johnson Hotel in Burlington, where Rourke was coming from before the stop.

A search warrant was conducted on two hotel rooms and detectives found a drug packaging material, a digital scale, hypodermic syringes, and indicia for Jeremy Rourke.

Rourke was arrested and charged with no valid driver’s license, failure to obey a stop sign, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance psilocybin mushrooms, and 2 counts of failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
