Kelli Sharlene Reif, age 58, passed away on Monday February 26, 2024 in the presence of her loving family.
Kelli was born November 21,1965 in Burlington Iowa. She was the daughter of George Reif and Lorraine Johnson Reif.
Kelli grew up in Sperry Iowa and graduated from Mediapolis Community School District in 1984. On May 18, 1985, she married Bill Moehn, they later divorced (2013). She was of the Methodist faith.
Over the years she worked at various restaurants as a server, the Quality Inn and was Assistant Manager at Long John Silvers. She owned A1 Antiques and Unique’s for many years, as well as Big Momma’s Gifts and Goodies.
Kelli had a curious spirit and enjoyed meeting new people. She enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling and traveling. She excelled in Art and attended SCC for art classes. She was best known for her custom Pinatas that she created and designed for parties.

Kelli loved going to flea markets and setting up at fairs and festivals. Kids enjoyed coming to her booth at the area County Fairs and everyone remembers her for her novelty gifts she sold. She was very active in her children’s athletics and other school events including being the coach of their soccer team and also serving on local PTA committees.
She was an avid patron of Steamboat Days and never missed a concert in over 20 years. She loved REO Speedwagon, having been to over 15 concerts with her sister.
Kelli started collecting monkeys as a child begining with her favorite doll being Jo-Jo the monkey. She had hundreds of different monkeys, figurines etc. She named each one beginning with the letter J in their name.
She is survived by two sons, Marc (Deme Hamilton) Moehn and Monte Moehn, two grandsons, Braxten Moehn and Gage Cable Moehn. One sister Rhonda Reif, and her beloved dog, Traveler all of Burlington Iowa as well as various aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday March 7, 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Loft on 416 Jefferson Street Burlington Iowa. Interment will be at a later date. A memorial fund has been established.
Terry Wayne Johnson, 83, formerly of West Burlington, died February 15, 2024 at Mechanicsville Specialty Care.
Born March 24, 1940 in Quincy, Illinois on Easter Sunday. He was the son of Wayne P. & Christine M. (Hess Frese) Johnson.
Terry graduated from Quincy High School where he was active in band playing the trumpet, wrestling and excelled in math. After graduating he attended University of Illinois in engineering.
Terry met the love of his life Mary Jo Rice and were married June 4, 1961 in Quincy, Illinois. In 1963 he was drafted into a two-year Army term. After basic training he became a radio teletype operator and was sent to Korea but spent most of the time driving for a high-ranking officer. Terry worked for Wareco Gas Station in Quincy, Illinois and then was transferred to the Wareco station in Burlington. He was a CB & Ham radio operator. In the 1970s Terry went to work for Standard of Beaverdale and was promoted one year later to manager of a new lumber yard and then to Chief Executive Officer of the company supervising seven lumber yards. Terry and Mary Jo were owners of Iris Realty Company for many years retiring after 30 years.
In the seventies Terry and Mary Jo became interested in Ballroom Dancing and drove to Davenport, Iowa every Friday evening for many years taking lessons. They danced as a couple in the tri-state area and many considered them as top-notch dancers. They started teaching lessons to others at one time in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. He is still on the Board of Directors of the Burlington Cotillion Dance Club.
Terry was a member of the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, serving as the executive committee, Vice President and member chair. He was also involved with the Kiwanis Club where he was secretary for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo; daughter Valerie (Curtis) Bassett of Palo, Iowa; grandsons, Colton Wayne (Kelsey) Carriger of Allison, Iowa & Travis Robert (Kallie) Carriger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and great grandson Carson Carriger.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Service for Terry will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Lunning Chapel with Rev. Shane McCampbell officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Inurnment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for DMC Community Foundation Margaret Hansen Impact Fund.

Linda Kay John, 68, of Burlington, died Sunday, March 3, 2024 at her home.
Born July 13, 1955 in Lansing, Michigan, she was the daughter of Nancy Riggs Black.
Linda graduated from Grand Ledge High School in Grand Ledge, Michigan. She married Randy John on November 22, 1983 in Beaufort, South Carolina. They recently celebrated their 40th anniversary.
Linda had a strong Christian Faith. She was a vet assistant and loved all animals. She was a people person with a kind heart. She loved working with flowers and the outdoors.
Survivors include her husband Randy of Burlington and two sisters Leslie Bird of Rolla, MO and Beverly Jones of Vicksburg, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her mother Nancy; infant son Kenny; brother Keith and sister Kathy.
The memorial service for Linda will be 2pm, Sunday, March 10th at Lunning Chapel with Dr Jason Unzicker officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Donna Jean (Dunn) Swink, 75, of Burlington, Iowa, died Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Home Health and Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born on October 22, 1948, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John and Violet (Brown) Dunn. On August 21, 1970, in Burlington, she married Donald “Don” Swink. He preceded her in death on August 28, 2022.
Donna worked as a registered nurse at Burlington Medical Center and Iowa City VA Medical Center where she later retired from. She was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church and Jane A. Delano Nurses Association. Donna loved to be outside doing yardwork and working in her flower garden. She also enjoyed sitting down and taking time to knit. What Donna loved most was spoiling her grandsons Andrew and Henry and her sweet grand puppies Zeus and Wilbur. Spending time with family and friends always brought Donna the most joy.
She is survived by her two children: Anne (Jerry) Peitzman of West Des Moines and Eric Swink of Burlington; two grandsons: Andrew and Henry; two sisters: Nancy Kohl of Solon, Iowa and Patty (B.J.) Mitts of Orlando, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother James Dunn.
According to her wishes, cremation had been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. No services will be held at this time.

Ruth Elaine Timmerman, 79, of Mediapolis, died Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born August 19, 1944, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Gaylord Thompson and Goldie Marie Taylor Hollenbeck. On December 17, 1979, she married James Edward Timmerman in Burlington. He died on July 29, 2004.
Ruth worked in the laundry department for Great River Hospital for 10+ years as well as many other jobs in Burlington over the years.
Ruth enjoyed working outdoors; especially mowing her lawn and landscaping. She always had a well kept house and would never let her car go below half tank. She enjoyed spending time with her sister, Carolyn Moser and cousins, Sharon Poggemiller and Burt Prier.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth (Cindy) Huffman of Mediapolis; one step-son, Patrick Timmerman of West Burlington; four grandchildren, Brayden (Cheyenne) Huffman, Drake (Courtenay) Huffman, Jamie Timmerman and Alex Timmerman; one great-grandson, Jameson Huffman and one sister, Carolyn Moser of Kingston.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two step-sons, John and Robert Timmerman, two brothers, Bud and Jim Hollenbeck and one sister, Joyce Lillie.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Prugh’s Chapel, 317 North 4th Street. Burial will be in Latty Cemetery at a later date.

Kenneth “Kenny” Hootman, 49, of Burlington, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died March 1, 2024, after a vigilant battle with cancer.
Born April 4, 1974, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Mark and Susan (Patton) Hootman.
He was a 1992 graduate of Burlington High School and a 1997 graduate of Upper Iowa University.
Kenny worked as a counselor in a residential treatment center for MHI for the last 4 years. He was a lifelong member of Troop #3, Boy Scouts of America, earning his Eagle Scout and Medicine Man merit badge and the Tribe of the Silver Tomahawk. He was recently named as the 2023 Shoquoquon District Mississippi Valley Council Scouter of the Year.
Kenny was a beautiful soul who touched numerous lives throughout his time here on earth. He was a one-of-a-kind man who didn’t know a stranger, and wore his heart on his sleeve, all the while holding nothing back! Always looking for the best place in any given city for tattoos, Kenny was known for his love of good art and live music. He didn’t ask for much from anyone, just for respect (which was easy with Kenny) and to be treated like you, yourself wished to be treated. The last four years of his life were the worst, but best, because he lived for him and was able to check some pretty awesome things off of his bucket list (thanks to amazing friends, and now family). Kenny was a true warrior and he fought until the very end!
He leaves behind his father, Mark Hootman; devoted sister Melissa Hootman-Paige; niece and nephew, Cheyenne Paige and Trenton Paige; great nieces and nephews Katherine Bilskey, Ella Bilskey, Grace Perry and Kaden Stolworthy; aunts, uncles and cousins and special friends Ben and Doris Geren, Rob and Tina Sellers and Blitz Creek!
He was preceded in death by his mother and paternal and maternal grandparents.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. A celebration of life will be held beginning at noon on Kenny’s 50th birthday, Saturday, April 6th at the Burlington Eagles #150.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Camp Eastman Developmental Association.

Vera Fox, 90, of Burlington, died Friday, March 1, 2024 at her son’s home in Danville.
Born June 9, 1933 in Beardstown, Illinois, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Mayme (Heitz) Alcorn.
She graduated from Beardstown High School in 1951. On November 16, 1957, she married Clarence Cleatus Fox in Beardstown, Illinois. He died January 6, 1999.
Vera retired from Champion Spark Club in 1991 after 33 years of service. She previously worked for Sylvania and Tommy Myers Grocery Store in Beardstown.
Vera was of the Christian faith and recently became a member of Long Creek United Methodist Church in Danville, Iowa. She was a member of UAW Local 1237. She was an outstanding high school athlete and continued playing on several semi-pro softball teams. Vera loved being outdoors in the sunshine, golfing, gardening, mowing, picking up nuts, and helping on the farm. She participated in several bowling and golf leagues with her sisters Joyce, Phyllis and friends. She enjoyed fast cars especially her Impala S/S and playing the music LOUD! She cherished her only son, Stacy. She loved bragging about her grandkids Drake, Drew and Ella who referred to her as Grandma V. She was very competitive, ornery and loved to make people laugh and smile.
Survivors include one son Stacy (Cindy) Fox of Danville and three grandchildren Drake, Drew and Ella Fox.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence, three brothers Harold, Kenny and Jerry Alcorn and two sisters Phyllis Conn and Joyce Johnson.
The memorial service for Vera will be 11am, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Lunning Chapel with Reverend David Mixon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A private Inurnment will be in Blakeway Cemetery in Danville.
