bre

Burlington, IA-  Burlington Riverfront Entertainment has announced the addition of Burlington’s first-ever Pride parade down Jefferson Street to the inaugural Pride on the Riverfront event.

According to a news release, the parade will take place on June 22nd at 10 AM, followed by the Pride on the Riverfront festivities from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Following the daytime festivities, BRE will host the “Pride After Dark” drag show for adults 21 and older.

David Kroll, Assistant Director of BRE, expressed his excitement for this significant addition, stating, “A couple of years back, I had the opportunity to witness the pride parade in downtown Champaign, IL. The experience was incredibly uplifting, as I watched firsthand the outpouring of love and acceptance that permeated every corner of the downtown area. I couldn’t help but think about how Burlington’s rich diversity provides us with a remarkable opportunity to celebrate and advocate for equality. What better place to champion these values than our vibrant downtown Burlington?”

The Pride on the Riverfront committee anticipates that the addition of the parade will draw masses downtown, bringing significant foot traffic to downtown businesses and the riverfront.

Individuals and organizations interested in participating in the parade can apply now, with a $15 entry fee.
