Burlington man charged with attempted murder

Burlington, IA-  The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a Burlington man for attempted murder following a shooting incident.

According to a news release, just after 4 AM on Sunday, May 26th, Louisa County Deputies received a call of shots fired in the area of Main Street in Columbus Junction.

Authorities responded to 205 1/2 Main Street. It was determined that a physical altercation had taken place, and a handgun had been brandished.  As one of the parties involved in the altercation was leaving the area in a vehicle, along with a female and a small child, 25-year-old Elijah M. Doss of Burlington began firing multiple shots at the vehicle.

The victim’s vehicle and the Washington State Bank Building were both damaged, but no injuries were reported.

Doss was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Reckless Use of a Firearm, Going Armed with Intent, two counts of Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Child Endangerment, and two counts of Second Degree Criminal Mischief.

Another man, 24-year-old Jonathan Martinez of Winfield was arrested in relation to the original altercation, and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication, and Child Endangerment.
