Burlington man arrested on multiple charges following standoff

Burlington, IA-  The Burlington Police Department has announced the arrest of a man following a brief standoff.

According to a news release, at 8:08 AM Friday, August 30th, Burlington Police Officers responded to the 1100 block of South 13th Street regarding an armed man that had forcibly entered a residence.

When officers arrived on scene they located an armed male subject inside with a female resident.

After long negotiations, officers were able to gain compliance from the man, resulting in the woman being released unharmed.

Upon further, lengthy negotiations the Burlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division secured a search warrant for the residence, and an arrest warrant for the man, who was identified as Clyde Graham.

The Des Moines County Tactical Response Unit executed the warrants and through further negotiations, Graham surrendered and was taken into custody.

Graham was charged with two counts of false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of assault with a firearm, and 1st degree burglary.
