West Burlington, IA-  The West Burlington Police Department says that two people were arrested Sunday following a vehicle pursuit.

According to a news release at about 8:58 PM Sunday, September 22nd, West Burlington Police Officers observed a black Chevrolet Colorado turning north onto West Burlington Avenue from Agency Street.

Officers knew the owner of the vehicle did not have a valid driver’s license, and conducted a traffic stop at West Burlington Ave. and East Pennington St.

The vehicle initially pulled over in the parking lot of Heartland Packaging, 506 West Burlington Ave.

Once officers opened their door to approach the vehicle, the vehicle fled northbound at a high rate of speed on West Burlington Ave., running a stop sign at West Burlington Ave. and Mount Pleasant Street.

Once officers approached Plank Road, they could not see where the vehicle was going.  Officers observed the vehicle’s brake lights westbound on Plank Rd. and realized the vehicle had turned it’s lights off.

The vehicle continued to flee to Highway 61.  Burlington Police Officers deployed stop sticks at Roosevelt Ave. and Sunnyside Ave., causing all but one tire to deflate.

The vehicle eventually stopped near Mt. Pleasant Street and Cottage Grove Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle, Dalton Mckeown of Burlington was charged with Eluding, Driving While Barred, and other traffic offenses.

A passenger in the vehicle, Breanna Villarreal of Burlington, was charged with an outstanding warrant for Child Endangerment as well as Possession of Marijuana, and possession of a Controlled Substance.
