Teen arrested for shooting livestock in McDonough County

McDonough County, Ill.-  An Illinois teen has been arrested on multiple charges after shooting livestock in McDonough County.

TV Station KHQA reports at about 2:30 PM Tuesday, October 29th, the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an animal cruelty case east of Bardolph, Illinois on North 1450 Road.

The complainant told authorities that four of his bulls had been shot.

When deputies arrived, two of the animals were deceased, and the owner was tending to the injuries of two others.  Authorities recovered evidence of a shooting from the roadway.

At about 5:36 PM, a McDonough County Deputy stopped a suspected vehicle involved in a road rage incident in Macomb.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies located evidence linking the driver, 18 year old Oliver Hoffman of Canton, Illinois, to the livestock shooting incident.

During an interview with detectives, Hoffman admitted to shooting the livestock the day before.

Hoffman was charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm without a FOID Card, Felony Criminal Damage to Property, Unlawful use of a Weapon, and Manufacturing of an Assault Weapon Attachment.
