Burlington police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday, November 24, in the 500 block of South 7th Street. Officers responded to reports of gunfire at 10:19 p.m. and discovered two victims with gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center and later transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals for treatment. The second victim succumbed to injuries at the scene and was pronounced dead.
The Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Police have not released additional details, and no arrests have been made.
