Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced $3.4 million in Registered Apprenticeship grants aimed at addressing teacher shortages across the state. The funding will support 11 K-12 school districts in training 68 new teacher apprentices and 26 paraeducator apprentices. The grants prioritize districts with high demand for certified educators.

Grants allocated in Southeast Iowa currently total over 1.5 million dollars, with the funds covering tuition, books, fees, administrative costs, and apprentice wages.

Governor Reynolds emphasized the program’s success in providing hands-on, classroom-based training. The initiative expands on a previous round of grants and continues efforts to strengthen Iowa’s education workforce.
