
Iowa’s high school graduation rate has returned to pre-pandemic levels, with 88.3% of the class of 2024 graduating in four years, matching the rate from 2019. The state saw nearly 900 more graduates than in 2023, totaling 34,158 students. The state’s five-year graduation rate for 2023 was 89.9%.
The Iowa Department of Education also reported notable gains among students with disabilities and those from low-income backgrounds, as well as increases across most racial and ethnic groups.
Iowa’s rate remains above Illinois but slightly behind Missouri and Wisconsin.
