Danville Telecom has purchased a lease agreement from the Southeast Iowa Regional and Economic Port Authority (SIREPA), paving the way for expanded broadband access across Lee County.
The buyout, worth just over $400,000, gives Danville Telecom full ownership of broadband infrastructure funded in part by Lee County’s American Rescue Plan Act allocation.
Lee County Supervisor Garry Seyb said the move will accelerate broadband expansion across the county, with Danville and other companies like Mediacom planning new projects. The work has already connected about 120 homes and generated $30–$40 million in investment.
Seyb said SIREPA can now reinvest the buyout funds into broadband and economic development, while Danville Telecom will move forward without needing further board approvals.
