Delbert Allen “Duke” Moser, 86, of New London and formerly Burlington and Kingston, died Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, West Burlington.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Elliott Chapel, New London, Iowa with Pastor Harry Hollingworth officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Monday, May 26 at Elliott Chapel. Memorials have been established for the New London Fire and Rescue, New London Trap Club, and DNR Youth program.
According to his wishes, his body will be cremated following the services, and at a later date inurned at Claypoole Cemetery, Wever, Iowa.

Born March 11, 1991, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Jerry McCann and Kathy (Beguin) Rehman.
He was a graduate of Burlington High School and served his country in the United States Army.
TJ worked as a HVAC Technician for Frank Millard & Company for 15 years and had recently started a new company, Heartland Heat and Air.
He had a talent for flipping things, whether it was houses, cars or anything else he could sell. TJ would buy something, fix it up and usually sell it for a profit. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, hiking, searching for arrowheads and exploring caves. Although he loved nature, he had a comical fear of birds. He will also be remembered for his tremendous knowledge on a wide variety of subjects and was always proud to give out the most random facts he had learned. Most of all TJ loved spending time with his girls.
He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Jerry (Brandea) McCann of Mt. Pleasant and Kathy (Tom) Rehman of Burlington; daughters, Audrianna Jo McCann and Kennedy Ronner; fiancée, Paige Plagman; step-daughters, Emma Seitz and Lola Eidson; sisters, Marissa (Clay) Beckman and Myah Rehman of Burlington; brothers, Matthew Rehman of Burlington and Casey (Rebekah) McCann of Cedar Rapids; maternal grandparents, John and Judy Beguin of Burlington; paternal grandparents, Vincent McCann of Burlington and Dyann McCann of Burlington; three nieces, Quinn and Blayke Beckman and Maeve McCann; aunt and uncle, Shelley and Jay Hohenthaner; cousins, Delaney and Drake Hohenthaner; aunt and uncle, Rebecca and Mark Getz; and cousins, Danielle and Zakk Getz.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal great-grandparents.
TJ was baptized at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burlington.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
The memorial service for TJ will be 10:00 AM Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the I.B.E.W. Local 13 Union Hall, 1205 N. Central, following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his daughters’ education.

Shirley was born August 7, 1935 to Alvin and Mabel Meyer in Burlington, Iowa. She attended schools there through high school. She was a good student and particularly enjoyed her participation in music classes. She started piano lessons at age 7 and organ lessons at age 15. From that time on she served as church organist for many of the churches she attended. In junior high and high school she accompanied groups on the piano. She also taught seven piano students during her high school years.
After high school graduation in 1953, she married Kenneth L. Blunt. She held positions in insurance offices during the time he was studying at the seminary in Chicago. He was the pastor of Sunnyside Avenue Baptist Church, Burlington, Iowa, and following that, he became an Army Chaplain, being assigned to various posts in Viet Nam, Germany and the US. Shirley and their children, Joel and Shawn, accompanied him whenever possible. She earned her AA degree from Drury College in Springfield, MO in 1979. At two of the Army posts she served as President of the Officers’ Wives’ Club, utilizing her love of organization and bringing people together. She served as Music Contractor at Chanute Air Force Base from 1982-1987, lining up musicians for all the church services.
Upon his Army retirement, they settled in Urbana, IL, later moving to Fort Myers, FL. She thrived in her involvement in churches – at First Baptist Church, Burlington, Iowa; Sunnyside Avenue Baptist Church, Burlington, Iowa; University Baptist Church, Champaign, IL; Fort Myers Congregational United Church of Christ, Fort Myers, FL, serving there as secretary, then office manager, as well as co-organist for 27 years. She was a member of the handbell and chancel choirs there for many of those years.
Among her other talents, Shirley composed six songs: Committed To Care, 1977; Make Today Count, 1978; Words of Faith, 1991; and Come to the Table of the Lord, 1992; Living Water, 1993; A Woman of Wisdom, 1994.
Survivors include her children, Joel (Debra) Blunt of Conroe, TX and Shawn Parr of Licking, MO; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Parr of Urbana, IL and Erin (Andrew) Blunt Styron of Nashville, TN; four great-grandchildren: Alexis Parr, Aalyvia and Myles Wilson, all of Urbana, IL and Callie Styron of Nashville, TN; one great-great grandson, Damari Brown of Urbana, IL; one sister, Joyce Alexander of Fort Myers, FL; and one former daughter-in-law, Susan Blunt of Franklin, TN.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by parents and one grandson, Michael Parr.
A service was held at Fort Myers United Church of Christ in Fort Myers on Monday, December 16, 2024.
The memorial service for Mrs. Blunt will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Parkside First Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Ullom officiating. A time of light refreshments and fellowship will be held in the community room at Parkside First Baptist following the service. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jim was born in Burlington, Iowa on October 13, 1927 to William Joseph and Elsie Gillow Pratt, the fourth of five children. Jim graduated from Burlington Community High School in 1945 and enlisted in the US Army. Since he was only 17, the Army sent him to the University of Wyoming to study engineering. After the War, he came back to Burlington where he met Edna Noble. They married on August 11, 1951 and were married 65 years before her death at 92 in 2016. In 2017, he married Carol Donato Marino. She survives.
Jim was a letter carrier with the US Postal Service for 35 years before he retired in 1985 to run his own business, The Bicycle Barn, in a barn at his daughter Becky’s property. An avid biker, he rode in multi-day biking events with his daughter, Kelly. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. He loved playing chess, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, and was a voracious reader of history tomes. His granddaughter Mallory shared his love for History and became a High School History teacher. He was known for his Jeopardy playing prowess. His latest obsession was following “his girl” Caitlin Clark as a Hawkeye and in the WNBA’s Indiana Fever wearing his Fever shorts and jersey.
Jim leaves behind his two daughters, Becky Brueck, of Burlington, and Kelly Garrett (Ryan Neaveill) of Bloomington, Illinois; four grandchildren, Mallory (Lexi Landis) Garrett of Indianapolis, Sara Garrett of Carbondale, IL, Beth (Bill) McDowell of Pollock Pines, CA and Matthew (Missy) Brueck of Burlington; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edna, an infant daughter Mary, brothers Bill and Tom, and sisters Doris and Joyce. He also leaves behind his fur babies, Sadie and Gracie.
Jim will always be remembered for his quick wit and for being the one everyone went to for homework help. He will always be our hero.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Sharon E. Huffman, 78, of Dallas City, Illinois, passed away at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Montrose Health Center, Montrose, Iowa.
Sharon was born July 31, 1946 in Missouri the daughter of Raymond A. and Millie L. (Brooks) Phillips. Earlier in life she married John Stimpson. They later divorced. In 1991 she married Don Huffman in Kahoka, Missouri. He survives.
Sharon enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, spending time with her family, the many activities with her friends, gardening, golfing, traveling, and sang with bands and karaoke. She was always up for an adventure with her friends and family. She was the life of the party no matter where she was.
Besides her husband, Don, survivors include one son: David (Brandi) Stimpson of Burlington, Iowa; four grandchildren: Emily, Jacob, Noah and Taylor; three great-grandchildren: Auna, Marley and Maddyn; one brother: Danny Phillips and two sisters: Brenda “Bea” Windsor and Teresa Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter: Lorrie Whittaker.
Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Dallas City.

Joyce Ann Mueller Westerbeck, 75, of New London, died Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. She was born April 21, 1950 Ft. Madison to James Eugene and Lila Lee Coleman Mueller. She married Rex McCreight, they divorced. She then married Richard Gill, they divorced. On May 16, 1986 she married Michael Allen Westerbeck and they were married for nearly thirty nine years when he died April 10, 2025.
She attended Mt. Pleasant High School. Joyce was in dietary management for most of her life. She was dietary manager at Arbor Court for many years and most recently in the dietary department at Silver Palms in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of New London Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and was very involved in the church. She volunteered for the “Big Sister” program in Mt. Pleasant. Joyce embroidered a baby blanket for every new baby in the family; loved time spent with all of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending their events.
Survivors include her children Sandra Lynn (Kip) Esbaum of Lowden, Iowa, Patricia Jo Gill-Jones of New London and Travis Eugene (Amy) Gill of Salem; step-daughters Melissa Anne (Chris) Anderson and Jennifer Jayne (Damon) Loyd both of New London; seven grandchildren, Samuel (Alexis) Loyd, Layney (Judah) Cooper, Gaige (Maureen) Gill, Claire Jones, Laettner (Jalen) Esbaum, Elle (Mathew Meline) Esbaum, Pavin Esbaum; two great-grandchildren, Mac and Mara Gill; brothers Jim Jr (Debbie) Mueller and Tommy (Cynthia) Mueller, both of Mt. Pleasant; sisters Sharrie Ryan of Keokuk, Vicki (Arnie) Anderson of New London, Cindy (Greg) Riley of Mt. Pleasant, Terri (Gene) Husky of Independence and Debbie (Rick) Nichols of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Michael and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Billy Mueller and grandson Logan Esbaum.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at New London Christian Church with Pastors Rod and Nathan Cooper officiating. Family will greet friends beginning at 9:00 until the time of the service. Inurnment at Burge Cemetery, New London, will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established for the Children’s Ministry at New London Christian Church.
