The Burlington City Council has approved a development agreement with Western Smokehouse Partners, clearing the way for an $18 million expansion and the creation of 100 new jobs. The company could receive up to $510,000 in tax increment incentives as part of the deal.
The council also greenlit two major infrastructure projects. The Washington Street project, set to begin in September, will upgrade sidewalks, stormwater systems, and street surfaces with a projected $2.8 million cost. Most construction will occur in 2026.
Meanwhile, the Summer Street project will start in late 2025, featuring a full street resurfacing, ADA sidewalk upgrades, trail expansion, and new lighting. That project is expected to cost over $10 million and continue through 2027.
Additionally, the council approved the purchase of two fire trucks for $3 million, with delivery expected in four years.
