A Burlington elementary teacher is pushing back on staffing decisions she says are leaving classrooms underprepared and students without critical support. Lindsey Paull, who teaches first grade at North Hill Elementary, told the school board that the elimination of two reading interventionist positions and last-minute rehires created chaos ahead of the new school year. She said teachers were given just 48 hours to prepare for open house and warned that the district is losing experienced staff to nearby schools offering more stability.
Superintendent Robert Scott responded by citing budget constraints and unexpected enrollment increases, saying the district is doing what it can with limited resources. Board members thanked Paull for speaking candidly and said they hope continued conversations with staff will guide future decisions on how best to support students and educators moving forward.
