High school seniors in Southeast Iowa can now sign up for ANCHOR, a free volunteer-based support program designed to help students navigate the college application process with confidence. ANCHOR is led by recent graduates from Johns Hopkins University, the University of Iowa, Southeastern Community College, and other institutions, who are offering their time and experience to help students succeed.

The program offers both group Zoom sessions and one-on-one mentoring on topics like writing essays, choosing a major, financial aid, and scholarship planning. It’s open to all area high school seniors planning to apply to college, with no cost to participate. The registration deadline is October 1, with orientation to follow shortly after.
