One person flown to hospital following Lee County Crash

emergency

Montrose, IA-  The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says one person was air-lifted to an area hospital following an accident involving a front-end loader.

According to a news release, at about 8:08 AM Wednesday, October 29th, Lee County Deputies were dispatched to mile-marker 31 on US Highway 61, just north of Wever, for a report of a three-vehicle accident involving a front-end loader.

Deputies and other first responders arrived on scene, and it was determined that the front-end loader was travelling in the right-hand lane, followed by a pickup truck with its hazard lights activated.

A van approached from the rear, and the driver did not realize the vehicles in the right-hand lane were moving at slower speeds.

The pickup truck attempted to move out of the way, but the van struck the rear of the pickup, pushing it into the loader.

Both directions of Highway 61 were temporarily closed to allow a MedForce helicopter to land, and one individual was flown to an area hospital with leg injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
