Burlington man sentenced to 18 years in prison on Sexual Exploitation charges

A Burlington man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to Sexual Exploitation and Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Child.

According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa, 63-year-old Daniel Edgar Stotler of Burlington was sentenced on November 6th to 216 months in prison.

On October 4th, Stotler attempted to produce child pornography of a minor victim by placing a video camera inside of a bathroom, that was recording a 15-year-old victim.

For months prior to October 4th, Stotler would place a small camera in the bathroom of a residence, which the victim would turn around while they were in the bathroom.  Stotler would then enter the bathroom after the victim an reposition the camera.

Police seized and searched Stotler’s phone, which contained child pornography images of the minor victim.

Following his prison term, Stotler will serve 8 years of supervised release.
