
Burlington, IA- The Burlington Fire Department says a house fire that occurred Friday was caused by electrical overloading.
At about 2:35 PM firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 1005 North 8th Street. Firefighters arrived about four minutes later, and saw smoke coming from a two-story residential structure.
Firefighters entered and located a significant fire coming from a bedroom, and were able to successfully contain and extinguish the fire.
The Fire Department says the home was insured, but had no working smoke alarms.
All three occupants of the home and their three dogs were able to escape safely.
The Fire Department says the fire was accidental and was caused by electrical overloading, which included the use of extension cords, power strips, and space heaters.
