The Animal Rescue League of Iowa is building a new intake and rehabilitation center in Des Moines. Construction on the project got underway last week. Officials with the organization say the space will feature a medical intake area, eight behavioral support spaces for pets, and two play yards. The ARL says the center will be the state’s only shelter dedicated to taking care of animals that have been rescued from cruelty and neglect situations.
