Community leaders and the public got a firsthand look at the new Meller Family Health Center during a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the new building on Friday. Located at 5001 Ave. O in Fort Madison (just east of Shottenkirk Automotive), the building is the new home of the Lee County Health Department and Lee County EMS’ Fort Madison bay.
The new facility cost $6.5 million, which was funded through a public-private partnership, which included funds from the North Lee County Community Foundation,
a Community Development Block Grant, a Rural Emergency Health Care Grant (USDA Rural Development) from First District congressional appropriations and county ARPA funds.
