The Monmouth City Council voted Tuesday night to approve two connected actions that move forward the creation of a new Tax Increment Financing district on the city’s east side.
City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher said the district would support the development of streets along with water and sewer infrastructure to make way for a single-family, owner-occupied housing project.
He added that expanding housing options in the Maple City has been a topic of discussion and effort for at least 10 years. Monmouth currently has four active TIF districts.
