Employees at the Case New Holland industrial facility in Burlington received their final notices this week ahead of the plant’s upcoming closure. Layoffs will begin at the end of March and continue through May, when operations are scheduled to cease entirely.
209 workers will be affected. The shutdown was first announced on a tentative basis in November 2024 and was formally finalized with the United Auto Workers in November 2025.
CNH said the decision to shut down the Burlington plant comes after a 47 percent drop in demand for loader backhoes since 2014, which is one of the main products manufactured at the facility. Union leaders, however, stated that the closure is being carried out to save the company approximately $17 million.
