Burlington Police say a man is in custody after allegedly stabbing a man and then charging at police officers with a knife.
Police arrested 27-year-old Kurt Allen Savage early Thursday morning after the late-night incident at a home in the 100 block of South Ninth Street.
According to a criminal complaint, officers found the victim suffering from three stab wounds on the right side of his back. The injured man was taken to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The victim told authorities he had been arguing with Savage prior to being stabbed.
Police later found Savage outside the residence where the incident took place. Officers reported that Savage was holding a knife and repeatedly rushed toward them while refusing orders to drop the weapon. He was eventually subdued after being tased twice, allowing officers to safely take the knife away. Savage is being held at the Des Moines County Jail on $25,000 cash-only bond.
