A Burlington resident who was previously accused of indecent exposure in a public park is now facing a new allegation involving a school bus.

Police arrested 28-year-old Dontell Alonzo Ryce on Thursday on a charge of indecent exposure involving a sex act visible to others, a serious misdemeanor.

Authorities say one of the students on the bus said that Ryce was seen naked standing in the doorway of his apartment, she reported the incident to her mother on January 14th, who then notified police.

The pair later identified the residence as an apartment located in the 1200 block of Washington Street.

Officers visited the address on Jan. 25 and spoke with Ryce, who said he was the sole occupant of the apartment. He initially denied the accusation, police said.

However, Ryce later admitted to the behavior, telling officers it was a mistake and that he had been standing in the doorway masturbating while waiting for a friend to arrive. He also acknowledged he knew the conduct was inappropriate, according to the complaint.

He is currently being held at the Des Moines County Jail on a $5,000 cash-only bond. His preliminary hearing is set for 2 p.m. on Feb. 6 at the Des Moines County Courthouse.
