Two individuals were taken into custody in Henderson County following a domestic disturbance reported last week.

Joseph A. Kimbrough, 50, faces charges of domestic battery along with obstructing or resisting a law enforcement officer. Gabrial N. Smith, 23, was also arrested and charged with domestic battery.

The two were arrested after Henderson County Sheriff’s deputies were called Friday to a report of an ongoing domestic battery in Oquawka that possibly involved weapons. When officers arrived, they allegedly found Kimbrough barricaded inside the residence. After speaking with him, deputies were able to persuade him to come out voluntarily. A one-year-old child was removed from the home and placed in protective custody. The Department of Children and Family Services was contacted and later arranged for the child to stay with relatives.
