
An inmate at the Des Moines County Jail is facing multiple charges following an altercation with deputies Tuesday morning.
According to a press release from the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the Des Moines County Correctional Center at approximately 9:44 a.m. to assist with moving 32-year-old Charles Lee Weddington of Burlington, who refused to comply with officers and threw objects and fists as he refused commands before being tased by guards. During the struggle, Weddington attempted to grab one of the deputies tasers. One deputy sustained an injury to his right hand during the incident. Weddington has been charged with interference with official acts, disarming a peace officers, and assault on persons in certain occupations.
