
Gasoline prices across Iowa declined sharply over the past week, falling 10.5 cents per gallon to an average of $2.46 per gallon today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 2,036 stations statewide. Current prices are 2.9 cents lower than a month ago and 57.4 cents below levels recorded one year ago. Meanwhile, the national average price of diesel edged up by 1.0 cent from last week, reaching $3.624 per gallon.
GasBuddy’s station reports showed a wide range of prices within Iowa. The lowest-priced station was listed at $1.94 per gallon yesterday, while the highest reached $3.44 per gallon — a spread of $1.50 per gallon.
Nationally, gasoline prices moved in the opposite direction. The U.S. average rose 2.6 cents per gallon over the last week, bringing the average to $2.87 per gallon today. That figure is 4.9 cents higher than a month ago but remains 24.5 cents lower than a year ago. The data is based on more than 11 million weekly price reports collected from over 150,000 gas stations nationwide, according to GasBuddy.
