The Keokuk Neighborhood Initiative is asking the Keokuk City Council to transfer a property that could ultimately be used by a charity group that constructs tiny homes.

The property under discussion is located at 116 N. Seventh St., a lot bordered by parcels already owned by the Keokuk Neighborhood Initiative. Officials noted the site could later be transferred to Iowa 2×4’s for Hope as a potential build location.

During its regular meeting Thursday, the city council conducted a public hearing on the proposal.

Iowa 2×4’s for Hope has hosted two public meetings in Keokuk since the beginning of the year to build community awareness and support for the initiative. The group has previously constructed three tiny homes in Fort Madison, each of which was donated to veterans.
