Families of two Iowa soldiers killed in Syria are expected to attend Tonight’s State of the Union address.

Staff Sergeants Edgar Torres-Tovar of Des Moines and Williams Nathaniel Howard of Marshalltown were killed in action in December. Officials said the attack was carried out by a lone suspect believed to have ties to the Islamic State.

The families of both service members will join the Iowa congressional delegation for the address. Relatives of Torres-Tovar and Howard were also recognized during the Condition of the State Address held January 13 at the State Capitol.
