A piece of Burlington school history is going up for auction.
The Burlington Community School District has partnered with Hoenig Auctions to liquidate the contents of the permanently closed James Madison Middle School at 2132 Madison Avenue.
More than 500 lots are now listed online under “Surplus School Furnishings and Equipment Auction — Phase One” at hoenigauctions.com.
The first online auction runs from 10 a.m. March 5 through 10 a.m. March 12. A second auction will be held closer to demolition, featuring any remaining items that can be sold.
The district plans to demolish the building in May or June.
Before that happens, the public will have one more chance to walk the halls.
The building will be open March 6 from noon to 5 p.m. for item previews and a send-off ceremony.
