The National Weather Service Quad Cities has confirmed three tornadoes touched down in Lee County Tuesday evening, two near Donnellson, and one near Wever.

According to a preliminary report, all three tornadoes were rated EF1. One had estimated wind speeds of about 90 miles per hour, while the other two reached around 100 miles per hour.

Storms moving through Lee County also produced heavy rain and reports of pea-sized hail.

Residents in Fort Madison received a hazardous materials alert in addition to the tornado warning. However, Chad Hannum says that alert was triggered accidentally through the warning system.
