There’s still no word on when the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant will reopen. The facility has been shut down since last Thursday following an abrupt mid-day evacuation that officials said was for precautionary reasons. A “safety review” is underway at the facility. The Hawk Eye reports that a plant spokesperson gave no timeline for when production will start again. The plant is the main producer of 155 mm artillery shells, which are used by the U.S. military and also extensively by Ukraine in their ongoing war against Russia.
