Authorities have released the identities of the two people killed in a crash Saturday night near Wever, Iowa.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 61-year-old Scott Edwards and 50-year-old Shawna Hutson died in the single-vehicle crash.
The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Green Bay Road. Investigators say Edwards was driving a 2000 Lexus 400 northbound when the vehicle crossed the center line, entered a ditch, struck an embankment, and overturned before coming to rest on its top in a nearby field.
Both Edwards and Hutson were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their bodies were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office by King-Lynk Funeral Home.
Assisting agencies included the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Wever Fire Department, and Lee County Ambulance.
