Farmers were able to substantially increase the amount of corn and beans planted in the last week. The U-S-D-A report shows corn went from two percent planted to 22 percent, and beans went from one percent to 11 percent. Corn planting is still ten percent behind the pace of last year, and beans are lagging by 12 percent. Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig (like egg) says we are still in the month of April and farmers can get a lot of crops in the ground in a short number of days to catch up.
