On Friday the Colchester, IL Police Department assisted by the McDonough County sheriff’s Department, was dispatched to 111 South Elizabeth Street in Colchester for a domestic disturbance. While there, it was determined that a registered child sex offender, Mathew D Shughart of Mountain View, Missouri had been residing at that address without registering his address with the Colchester Police Department. During the arrest, a McDonough County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured and was treated and released by the Colchester Rescue Squad. Shughart was charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, Sex Offender Residing Too Close to a School, and Resisting/Obstructing Arrest. Shughart was transported to the McDonough County Jail and held pending court appearance.
