The Central Lee Community School District has selected its next superintendent.

The school board announced Friday that Stacey Schmidt will take over as superintendent beginning July 1, pending final board approval.

Schmidt currently serves as director of student services for the Atlantic Community School District, where she oversees special education, gifted and talented programs, Section 504 services, at-risk programming, and district compliance.

Board President Bill Young said Schmidt brings strong experience in student-focused leadership, instructional improvement, and district operations. Schmidt said she was looking not just for a superintendent position, but for the right fit to help lead the district’s next chapter.

She holds a master’s degree in education from Southwest Minnesota State University and a specialist degree with superintendent endorsement from University of Sioux Falls. The selection was announced Friday by the district.
