A contractor working for Ameren Illinois narrowly avoided injury Thursday after the bucket on a utility truck caught fire during work in Carthage.
Video submitted to WGEM-TV showed the contractor escaping the flames by jumping from the burning bucket into another bucket attached to a second utility truck.
According to Ameren, the incident remains under investigation.
Emergency crews responding to the scene included the Illinois State Police, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Hancock County EMS, and the Carthage Fire Department.
