It’s very possible that soon there will be no difference in prices between ethanol-blended gasoline and pure petroleum.
As of right now in Iowa, ethanol is 2-cents cheaper than petroleum. It’s up to the statehouse to keep it that way but time is running out to extend the state tax break. The law that keeps the price down is due to expire at the end of June. If the bill isn’t renewed there will be $8-million extra for the Road Use Tax Fund. This would increase the amount of money available for road and bridge repairs across the state.
