Obituaries Tuesday December 17th

Mr. Lldon L. Little, 84, of LaHarpe, IL passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 1:40 PM in the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.

He was born December 20, 1928 in Stronghurst, Illinois, the son of Guy and Mary Hutson Little. On July 23, 1950 Lldon married Lucille Johnson in LaHarpe.

Lldon Graduated from LaHarpeHigh School in 1946 and then attended Browns School of Business in Galesburg, Illinois. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He, along with his brothers Stanley and Robert, owned and operated Little Brothers Plumbing, Heating and Electrical. He served LaHarpe and the surrounding communities for nearly 60 years. Mr. Little served as an alderman, was on the LaHarpe Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member and past president of the LaHarpe Golden Rule Club. He was a member of the LaHarpe Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Lldon was also a member of the LaHarpe Union Church.

Mr. Little is survived by his wife, Lucille, two daughters, Lynne (Steve) Beaver of LaHarpe and Lisa (Tony) Vento of St. Louis, MO, two sons, David (Krista) Little and Eric (Jennifer) Little all of LaHarpe, five grandchildren, Chris Beaver, Erica, Tyler, Logan and Kaden Little and two sisters, Darlene (Vern) Comstock of Hamilton, IL and Martha Jean (Robert) Cratsenberg of LaHarpe.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen and Jeffrey Little and five brothers, Stanley, Robert, George, Wayne and Richard Little.

Masonic Rites will be held at 10:00AMThursday, December 19, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral in LaHarpe followed by funeral services with Rev Bruce Goettsche officiating. Burial will be held in the LaHarpeCemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00AM until time of services, Thursday. Friends may call Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the funeral home from 3:00 until 8:00PM. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center or the LaHarpe Union Church. Eugene Kreiger, age 88 of Morning Sun, died Sunday December 15, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.  The son of Earl and Lela (Hoffman) Kreiger, he was born August 16, 1925 at Villisca, Iowa.  On November 3, 1945 he married Ethel Irene Cary at Bennettsville, S.C.; she died May 22, 2012.  He was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School.  He served in the Army during W.W. II.  He was a self employed truck driver and retired as a rural mail carrier out of the Morning Sun Post office.  He was a charter member of the Morning Sun Lions Club, a member of the American Legion, and a former member of the Morning Sun Fire Dept., had served on the Morning Sun City Council ,was on the Community Betterment Board and was a former board of director of the Morning Sun Ambulance.  He was a member of the Morning Sun United Methodist Church.

Survivors include:  one sister, C. Colleen Lehman, and two brothers, Dennis and Dallas Cary, all of Bettendorf; 10 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, stepfather and one brother.

The funeral service will be held on Friday December 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Morning Sun United Methodist Church with Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating.  Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun.  Memorials have been established for the Morning Sun Care Center and the Morning Sun Ambulance.
